A fresh citrus perfume in which the bergamot aroma at the core is gently wrapped in soft, musky orange blossom and green neroli.
As always, Perris go for the best materials they can source from around the world. For Bergamotto Di Calabria they acquired special “sponge extraction” bergamot oil from Capua. In this region the traditional artisans still perform the extraction manually. Each fruit is sliced in half, the pulp removed, and the rind pressed on a natural sponge in a circular motion to collect the essence. The bergamot rind extract obtained with this method has the most delicate and complex aroma, with a hint of jasmine.
The blend also contains orange blossom absolute from the Italian Capua, Paraguaian petitgrain (the distillation of the twigs from the bitter orange tree), pepper from Timor Island, Moroccan neroli, and Haitian vetiver.
All about this fragrance
Vibe check
This is the kind of scent that suits close, daylight settings where freshness needs to feel polished rather than sharp: a crisp shirt, open windows, clean skin, and a calm pace. It projects a bright, composed presence that stays intimate rather than loud.
How to wear
Best in spring and warm weather, when its citrus-green profile can stay vivid without turning thin. Two to four sprays are usually enough; on skin it opens bright and slightly floral, then settles into a soft, clean woody-musky trail that lasts better than a simple citrus cologne.
Who it’s for
For wearers who like refined citrus scents with a natural feel, green lift and a clean finish. It will appeal to those who prefer understated elegance, transparent compositions and bergamot-driven fragrances that are fresh but not fleeting.

The nose
Luca Maffei. Maffei is known for a modern, material-focused style that balances clarity with texture, often giving natural ingredients a more nuanced, luminous presence. In Bergamotto di Calabria, he builds the composition around bergamot’s aromatic core and lets the floral and woody accents deepen its freshness without losing precision. His work often reads as elegant but not decorative: he tends to shape fragrances with a clear central idea, then refine it through carefully chosen natural materials and restrained structure. Here, that approach suits Perris Monte Carlo’s emphasis on ingredient quality and traditional craftsmanship.
Collaborators
Gian Luca Perris worked with Luca Maffei on the fragrance concept, shaping the brief around a premium Calabrian bergamot and the house’s focus on natural materials, traditional extraction and a clean, ingredient-led composition.
Perris Monte Carlo’s story
Perris Monte Carlo builds its identity around craftsmanship, authenticity and exceptional raw materials rather than spectacle. The house treats perfumery as a study of ingredients and traditions, often drawing on regional stories and artisanal methods to create fragrances that feel precise, natural and quietly luxurious.
Bergamotto di Calabria’s concept
Bergamotto di Calabria belongs to Perris Monte Carlo’s Italy Collection, a tribute to Southern Italy’s citrus heritage. The fragrance was built around a special sponge-extracted bergamot oil from Capua, then softened with orange blossom, neroli and a woody base to give the citrus a more rounded, lasting character.
Extra info
The bergamot oil is sourced through a traditional sponge extraction method in Capua, a labor-intensive technique that gives the material a more delicate, complex aroma. The composition also includes orange blossom absolute, Moroccan neroli, Paraguayan petitgrain, Timor pepper and Haitian vetiver.
