Cinnamon is the first line – and the throughline – of this woody story. Mellow guaiac wood, cedar, sandalwood and patchouli are plumped with vanilla and amber. Aromatic myrrh is the character keeping all the others on their toes.

All about this fragrance
Vibe check
There is a tactile, unhurried quality here: a leather jacket still on your shoulders as conversation settles into the evening. Cinnamon and smoky resins give the fragrance a firm presence, while vanilla softens its edges at close quarters.
How to wear
The spicy woods and resinous warmth suggest cooler weather, when the vanilla can feel enveloping rather than heavy. Start with one or two sprays on skin beneath clothing for a more contained effect; in warm rooms, keep the application light.
Who it’s for
For those drawn to smoky woods and resinous perfumes but who prefer their darker facets softened by vanilla. It suits a taste for cinnamon-led warmth, leather-like textures and sweetness that supports the composition rather than turning it into a gourmand.
Release year
2018–2019
The nose
Philippe Romano, credited by the house as the master perfumer behind Oud Cannelle.
La Closerie’s story
La Closerie des Parfums brings French perfumery into conversation with spices and imagined journeys. Founded by Valérie Madrid, the house takes inspiration from Parisian gardens and Bordeaux’s trading heritage, pairing a precious base with a spice so that each reveals another dimension of the other.
Oud Cannelle’s concept
Oud Cannelle was conceived around two contrasting worlds: the rounded comfort of vanilla and the darker resinous character of incense and myrrh. The house’s image of oud wearing leather boots captures the composition’s tension between softness and a smoky, more rugged presence.
Extra info
Cannelle is French for cinnamon. Although oud defines the fragrance’s name and collection, it is not separately listed in the official note pyramid; the house describes the collection as an exploration of oud’s recreated character. Incense likewise appears in the descriptive story rather than the formal pyramid.
