Perfumer: Luca Maffei
The rarest of roses in perfumery: rose from the Taif area in Saudi Arabia. These flowers have their own unique aroma and most of the harvest stays in the country. Very few perfume houses ever get their hands on rose de Taif.
Perris did manage to secure the precious essence for their perfume and it was really worth making rose de Taif the main theme of the formula. Only a few other ingredients are used and used only to highlight the beauty of this rare perfume material.
Once you have tried rose from Taif you will be able to recognize them forever: these roses have a unique sillage, hanging in the air as a veil and they are creamier, more gentle and muskier than most other rose varieties.
Also available in the extrait version.
The EdP option smells less metallic and more happy rose petals warmed by the sun (thank you lemon). Rose de Taif in the extrait concentration is more metallic leathery and heavier on geranium.
All about this fragrance
Vibe check
This is the kind of rose that feels most convincing in close quarters: polished, intimate, and quietly magnetic. It suits a setting where the air moves slowly and the scent can leave a soft trail rather than announce itself from across the room.
How to wear
Best in mild to warm weather, where the rose can bloom without becoming heavy. Apply lightly to pulse points or clothing for a graceful, airy trail; a few sprays are enough, as the composition is designed to linger with a soft but noticeable sillage.
Who it’s for
For those who love rose fragrances with realism, texture and a slightly sensual edge rather than syrupy sweetness. It will appeal to wearers who enjoy floral scents that feel refined, musky and natural, with a clean structure and a touch of green brightness.

The nose
Luca Maffei is an Italian perfumer known for precise, material-driven compositions that let a central ingredient speak clearly rather than hiding it under effects. In Rose de Taif, he shapes the rose as dewy, green and slightly spicy, with enough structure to feel modern while preserving its natural richness. His work often balances technical clarity with sensuality, and this fragrance fits that approach well: the rare Taif rose remains the focus, while supporting notes are used sparingly to sharpen texture and diffusion rather than distract from the flower.
Collaborators
Luca Maffei developed the formula in close collaboration with Gian Luca and Elisabetta Perris, who shaped the house’s emphasis on rare raw materials and a polished, ingredient-led concept. Their role was to frame Taif rose as the unmistakable centerpiece and keep the composition deliberately restrained so the material could remain the star.
Perris Monte Carlo’s story
Perris Monte Carlo builds its perfumes around craftsmanship, travel, and exceptional natural materials, with a clear preference for substance over branding noise. The house often draws on perfumery traditions from Grasse and the Middle East, presenting them in a contemporary, elegant style that highlights quality of raw material and composition.
Rose de Taif’s concept
Rose de Taif was created as an homage to the celebrated Damask rose of Taif, Saudi Arabia, a rose prized for its purity and concentration. The composition centers on this rare essence and uses only a few supporting notes to frame its character, aiming to evoke the flower’s airy sillage and its creamy, musky softness rather than a generic rose accord.
Extra info
Rose de Taif is built around one of perfumery’s rarest rose materials, sourced from Taif in Saudi Arabia. It was first released as an Eau de Parfum in 2013, with an Extrait version following in 2015. The fragrance remains in production and is known for its elegant, rose-forward sillage.
