Love around the campfire. Heavily peated, spiced scotch in the wet woods

All about this fragrance
Vibe check
This is the scent of close conversation in a dim room after the air outside has turned wet and cold: juniper and smoke rise first, then whisky, incense and woods settle into a darker, more intimate register. It projects a controlled, magnetic presence rather than volume.
How to wear
Best in cooler weather, when its smoke, oak and whisky facets can unfold without becoming heavy. One to three sprays is usually enough; on skin it reads dry, woody and boozy, while in the air the incense and smoke create a longer, more atmospheric trail.
Who it’s for
For wearers who like aromatic woods with a smoky, boozy edge and a slightly untamed finish. It will appeal to people drawn to dark, textured fragrances with incense, leather and forest notes rather than clean freshness or sweet gourmand styles.
Release year
2022
The nose
Florian Gallo. Gallo is known for composing fragrances with a vivid, textural style that often leans into contrast: brightness against smoke, spice against woods, and polished structure against raw, animalic or boozy facets. In Smokin' Gun, that approach gives the scent its tense, cinematic character, where juniper and bitter aromatics cut through incense, oak and whisky.
Collaborators
Jun Lim, BORNTOSTANDOUT’s founder, shaped the creative brief and overall concept, pushing the perfumer toward an uncompromising, imagination-first fragrance rather than a market-safe formula. The brand’s process is described as one where the founder and perfumer build from a story and emotional premise before the final composition is locked.
BORNTOSTANDOUT’s story
BORNTOSTANDOUT is a Seoul-based niche house built on provocation, individuality and refusal of convention. Its identity is deliberately anti-standard: bold names, raw visuals and high-contrast compositions are used to turn fragrance into a form of self-expression rather than polite accessorising.
SMOKIN' GUN’s concept
Smokin' Gun was created in 2022 as a smoky, nocturnal story of danger and forbidden indulgence. Its imagery moves through peaty whisky, damp woods, incense and worn leather, with the scent framed less as a campfire comfort and more as a hidden, charged encounter in the dark.
Extra info
Smokin' Gun was launched in 2022 and is built around a striking contrast between fresh juniper and smoky whisky woods. Its name and imagery lean into outlaw glamour, while the composition is often described as peaty, leathery and tarry before softening into woods and suede-like warmth.
