Perfumer: Miroslav Petkov
A bestial intense animalic amber serving the visceral image of a wild stallion. Patchouli and labdanum harmonise to a rich decadent leather while hits of oriental osmanthus add to the floral sweetness which in turn is balanced by spicy cypriol and vetiver. Stunning and magnificent.
All about this fragrance
Vibe check
This is a scent for close quarters and confident presence, where its leather, amber and animalic warmth can unfold without being diluted by distance. It suits a dark coat, bare skin and a room that stays quiet long enough for the dry, saddle-like texture to register.
How to wear
Best in cool weather, when its amber and leather facets can radiate without becoming heavy. Apply sparingly, as the animalic core and saffron-cypriol dryness project strongly; one or two sprays are enough to let the scent settle into a warm, textured trail on skin.
Who it’s for
For wearers who like dark amber, leathery woods and a distinctly animalic profile. It will appeal to those who enjoy bold, textured compositions with a raw, tactile feel rather than polished sweetness or airy freshness.

Collaborators
The fragrance was developed within IFF’s perfumery team, with Julien Rasquinet and Fanny Bal among the named collaborators shaping the formula and its leathery, animalic balance. Nicolas Chabot’s Headspace concept provided the scientific-poetic framework that guided the brand’s material-led approach.
Headspace’s story
Headspace builds fragrances around the meeting point of science and imagination, using headspace technology as both method and metaphor. The house is drawn to materials and effects that feel tangible, atmospheric and slightly abstract, turning raw scent impressions into composed, modern perfumes.
STYRAX’s concept
Styrax was conceived as a wild, animalic amber with the image of a thoroughbred galloping through sand. Its leathered warmth comes from labdanum and amber, while osmanthus adds a soft apricot-floral sheen and cypriol with vetiver sharpen the composition into something more rugged and physical.
Extra info
Styrax is part of Headspace's 2022 debut collection, which opened with seven fragrances built around hero natural ingredients. The bottle was designed by Jules Dinand, grandson of flacon designer Pierre Dinand.
