Tabac Sura - Byermia - Bloom Perfumery

What began as a personal project inspired by Byermia founder Ashek Zubayer’s love of non-sweet, cigar-like scents turned into a full year-and-a-half journey to create something truly unique. Initially, it was just a blend of cigar and vanilla tinctures (60/40), with a few extra ingredients. After it caught on with friends, he sourced new materials, including a fresh batch of cigar tincture aged for nearly a year, and released this limited edition of Tabac Sura to the world.

Ingredients include:

cigar tincture (2023)
vanilla tincture (2022)
custom amber base
ambergris
deer musk
aged castoreum tincture
oakwood extract
cocoa absolute
tonka bean absolute
aged trat oil (2011)

All about this fragrance

Vibe check

This is tobacco at an unhurried, close-quarters gathering: conversation settles, coats stay on the backs of chairs, and the scent’s dry smoke and leathery warmth feel deliberately informal. Its savory animalic edge suits a presence that is tactile and slightly rough rather than polished or sweet.

How to wear

Start with one light application on skin and let the smoky, animalic character settle before adding more. Cool weather is a natural starting point for its dense tobacco-and-wood profile; in warmth or shared indoor spaces, keep the dose restrained. Apply beneath clothing for a more contained impression.

Who it’s for

For lovers of dry tobacco, smoky woods and leather who find many tobacco fragrances too sweet. Best suited to a taste for savory, animalic compositions, where musk and castoreum bring texture rather than a freshly washed finish.

Release year

2024 (or 2025)

The nose

Ashek Zubayer, Byermia’s perfume artist, approaches fragrance through handcrafted compositions that connect vintage perfumery textures with modern techniques. His palette includes ouds, floral absolutes and musks, without restricting itself to exclusively natural materials. Tabac Sura grew from his personal pursuit of a non-sweet, cigar-like scent.

Byermia’s story

Byermia is a family passion project based in Sydney, owned and operated by Zannat Lamia. The house pairs a focus on distinctive raw materials with small-scale craftsmanship, drawing on vintage perfumery aesthetics while embracing modern materials and techniques.

Tabac Sura’s concept

Tabac Sura began as a personal experiment in capturing cigar tobacco without the usual sweetness. Its development took roughly eighteen months, starting with a 60:40 blend of cigar and vanilla tinctures enriched with other materials. Enthusiastic responses from friends encouraged a commercial release, which required fresh sourcing and nearly a year of aging for a new cigar tincture.

Extra info

The material list identifies cigar tincture from 2023, vanilla tincture from 2022 and a special 2011 batch of Trat oil. Early release copy offered 50 bottles, but a subsequent batch means that figure is not the fragrance’s lifetime production total.
